Bijou - Shea Body Butter - Vanilla & Orange - 225g / 8oz

Bijou is a rich and decadent body butter and is made for naturally moisturizing, protecting and toning your skin. We use the best hand harvested & rendered organic Shea Butter from Ghana, where Shea nuts are collected from wild trees. This exotic organic butter contains more available skin nutrients and enzymes than any other natural butter on earth and has been used for centuries for its healing and protective properties.  

Bijou is scented with real Vanilla oil straight from Madagascar and if you’ve never experienced that, it’s an experience! It smells warm, sweet and complicated and fills the room without being too strong. It’s lifted with Sweet Orange essential oil and if you really pay attention you’ll also get a hint of wood smoke. Yes, wood smoke! That comes in with the Shea butter and is infused into it when they roast the nuts in wood fired kettles.  

The consistency of Bijou is thick & creamy and soft enough to scoop out easily and rub in at room temperature. It melts with just the friction of your hands, allowing it to absorb into the skin quickly. It may look and feel oily at first, but it vanishes within seconds leaving skin feeling softer and moisturized and looking toned and healthy. Shea Butter also has a very low score on the Comedogenic Scale which means that it doesn’t clog pores and won’t promote other skin problems.

Bijou also contains Allantoin which is a natural compound that’s found in plants like beets and comfrey and, according to natural medicine, is good for burns and bites and general skin irritation. If you’ve ever heard that you should pee on a burn or sting it’s because of Allantoin. It’s actually present in the urine of most mammals but not in humans, so if you get stung by a jellyfish, maybe get your dog to pee on it.  

Bijou comes in a beautiful 8oz amber glass jar that's closed with a cork and that means that you can feel good about not causing plastic waste, and when you're finished enjoying this half pound of body butter, the jar can be up-cycled in many unique ways.

Because Bijou has a low melting point, care should be taken to make sure that it doesn’t get left on the dash of your car in the summer or near other sources of heat. If it does melt, put it in the refrigerator to re-solidify. This will make sure that it stays creamy and doesn’t form crystals which can make it feel gritty.
